These days, anything once powered by conventional energy sources is being given the solar overhaul. With the cost of photovolatics going down, efficiencies (slowly) going up, and the expertise available to make it all come together — it’s no surprise to bear witness to this transition.
Of course, we’ve not yet reached the stage where a solar-powered car is in our driveway (though, there are some intriguing solar-rooftop accessories for your car) but for those with deep pockets, such futuristic possibilities can be a reality.
Take this gorgeous photovoltaic-integrated speedboat — claimed as the first-of-its-kind by its Dutch creators. Called the MK1, it can reach a top speed of 30 knots (35 mph) with relative quiet while skipping the waves. It even comes equipped with some fancy touchscreen-control systems, luxurious leather, and a good amount of carbon fiber. Mmmm….fiber.

I think people are now looking too hard to find things to make “green”. How much pollution does all the world personal boats emit each year? Answer: Not enough to care. And if it isn’t cheaper, I’m sure no one else is going to either.
Jus my 2 cents.
