I’m on an electric bike kick lately and completely psyched that there are so many cool and innovative designs coming down the pipe. Today’s find is an advanced recumbent three-wheeler with electric support called the Drymer V.05. Since this thing is only half-way to Version 1.0, it’s safe to assume that we’re dealing with a prototype. Still, nice wheels.
The Drymer is the brainchild of a massive collaboration between several Dutch institutions. Sporting a 250 watt electric motor, it can achieve speeds of about 15mph — which seems plenty fast to help out with short distance commutes. From the source,
“The two front wheels guarantee an unwavering driving experience and lean in the windings. The bike is fitted with a paddle assist system which lets the user decide how much power is applied to the motor.”
For all-season use, there’s also a covered version offered. Much like the human-hybrid bike we profiled last week, this one’s pricey at $8,700. Still, it’s less a purchase and more a sign of things to come. Hold tight and low-cost alternative vehicles will be here before we know it.
