Soda Pop Goes Solar

Solar Soda Vending Victory?

Hurray to this vending machine company! The folks at Solar Energy Vending, a Spanish firm, have come up with a new twist on vending machines. Bringing refreshment closer to the need, they have developed a new product they call the ‘beach machine’. It is a solar powered soda (pop) vending machine that they are installing around Spain on beaches and golf courses. (ok, it’s not so great to see these things in the middle of the beach or out in the middle of the golf course)

This opens up new venues for small business in Europe because of special tax advantages. The European Economic Community will profit from the machine’s sales and be income tax free because it uses renewable energy. The machines offer advertising potential. (ok, the concept was good initially, but tiny billboards on the beach IS going a bit far for me)

However, if they replaced the electric ones already in use, I can see some definite potential here! For example, I have noticed that outside of the … …’big box discount stores’ here, there is a line of what we call pop machines. (that would be soda vending machines to everyone out of my area and Chicago) If those were replaced with the solar vending machines, there is a lot of potential for energy savings! On that note, let’s give ‘em a:

‘thumbs up!’
