This is JUST what we’ve been waiting for! Finally work is being done to replace those old time fluorescent tube lights! (Yes, they are still on the expensive side) These new tube lights contain 300 very bright LEDs. The efficiency of these bulbs is nearly 100 percent as they are directional-delivering all the light to the work area. Regular fluorescent bulbs are 50% efficiency.
The LED work lights are also lightweight. No ballast is needed, you simply bypass the ballast and apply 120V AC directly to opposite ends of the tube.
There is no buzzing… (THANK YOU!), no radio interference, no flickering, (again, thank you!), and are instant on requiring no need for them to heat up. The long life bulbs are virtually maintenance free with no mercury to contaminate the environment. They are shock and vibration resistant, sealed for a water resistant enclosure, and have an operating range of minus 40 degrees F to 150 degrees F.
You ask, “Where can I use these wonderful new lights?” They make great under-cabinet lighting, industrial lighting, hospitals, offices, closets, showcases–basically anyplace you need light! They have the equivalent of 100 watts but expending only 14w.
These would be great in my basement, in the laundry room and the tack room and hen house in the barn! (ok, so I’m still staying off the grid out there….. )
