Successfully tested in Norway, this Fiat Dovolo delivery truck has been making statements and deliveries wherever it goes. Refueling in ten minutes, about long enough for the driver to ‘refuel’, it can go 200 miles with only 3 very fast recharges! AltairNano’s fancy lithium ion packs take less than ten minutes to recharge!
This Fiat requires a high energy power station to refuel, but with the infrastructure that is working in some areas of Europe, their green way of life will be eons ahead of the rest of us. This 5 person capacity station wagon type vehicle did a 60 day, 7500 KM test run in Oslo, doing regular deliveries around the city.
Shipment of an additional 250 of these vehicles is expected for 2008.
From the article:
“With more than 1,700 electric-powered vehicles in the country, Norway is taking a proactive approach in the adoption of all-electric vehicle technology and products. Our innovative battery technology, which is capable of thousands of re-charge cycles, provides a necessary ingredient for the adoption of EVs around the globe.â€
I would love to see this type of vehicle made for the US, although our present fueling infrastructure is not conducive to this technology just yet. This vehicle would make a great family car, and perhaps be able to substitute some SUVs and pickups. (it surely would make me think harder about the purchase of one of these instead of even a hybrid)
Come on, Detroit! Let’s get with the EV program here!
