Solar-Powered Wi-Fi?

solis.jpgSolis Energy of Orlando, Florida, has created a solar power supply for Wi-Fi routers and other low-wattage electrical devices. Solis recently announced a suite of three new products designed to power devices that use less than 100 watts, and is pitching its products for munipal Wi-Fi projects as well as for emergency power supply for restoring communication lines after a hurricane or disaster.

Solis says its solar power systems - which include storage of solar-generated power in on-board batteries - also could be used to provide power for WiMax radios, security/surveillance cameras, traffic monitoring, lights, and sensors, in addition to WiFi hotspots.

The bad news: Solis’ projects are not built or sold for personal use.
