Sony is looking to use your kid’s energy to power their new line of gadgets called ODO. By cranking, pulling, and spinning these guys, kids can learn to make due without batteries or wall chargers. There is the Spin N’ Snap digital camera which is powered by putting your finger through the holes, which also double as a view finder, and spinning it around a few times for a charge, if that doesn’t strike their fancy. The Crank N’ Capture video camera might. This is a rudimentary portable video camera that is powered by you guessed it, a crank. Both of the cameras can be hooked to the Push Power Play where he videos or pictures that were just taken can be viewed.
All of the devices rely on kinetic energy and solar as a back up. If the little munchkin’s arms get tired they can always pull out the “juice boxâ€, an accordion style solar panel that can be set out to collect energy.
While they are concept items now, who knows how long it will be until gadgets like this are the norm. Hopefully sooner rather than later, although it’s promising to have major corporations thinking outside of the collective box and looking for alternatives to the long existing status quo.
