Big TV Equals Less Power?

Energy saving large screen TVs on the horizon

Sony, Sharp and Hitachi, the Big Three in the TV making industry are collaborating to study technological development to reduce power consumption of LCD TVs. The creation of monster sized televisions has certainly not reduced power consumption. Although LCDs do use less energy than similarly sized CRTs, the fact remains that their size is 2-3 times larger than the older models.

The Big Three hope to see power consumption halved by 2011 by incorporating energy saving methods to display images and the use of LEDs for backlighting.

So, in the next few years, you can actually justify the purchase of your next monster TV as being more environmentally sound. (of course, you can always opt to go without TV, too!) Check it out at techdigest.com
