The CleanTech Network, and organization formed to bring clean technology entrepreneurs and investors together, has announced the total venture capital invested in the companies they track at just under $1 billion in North America and Europe. This is up 10% from the $900 million of the 1st quarter.
There were a total of 17 initial public offerings (IPOs) raising $1.7 billion in the 2nd quarter. This is nearly double the number of deals and dollars from the first quarter.
Of all of the money invested in the 2nd quarter, over 53% was in the field of energy generation.
Clean technology, especially for renewable and clean energy is attracting lots of investment money. This field is rapidly moving into the mainstream and I am looking forward to seeing what these companies come up with both for the environment and as an investor. These are exciting times!
