Winding Our Way with LED Lantern

Living out in the ‘boonies’ and being the last house on the electric line out of town with frequent power outages, we feel the need to constantly gear up, just in case the inevitable happens.  Extra wood for the woodstove and a good supply of batteries are always on hand.  Also, having non-electric lighting products helps to make those times of uncertainty more tolerable.

Hence, we purchased a wind up lantern with LED lights. This lantern not only provides enough light for us to make it out to the barn at night (we have no electric in the barn), but provides enough light to read by in the middle of the night when you don’t want to wake up everyone with bright electric lights.

This product would be a necessity for camping. From getting around in your tent at night and  mid-morning walks to the loo, this lantern will give more than adequate illumination to suit your needs. It would also work quite well for fishing trips and if you hang two from trees, would provide enough light for evening lighting outside.

Purchased in the sporting goods section at a local discout chain store, we found this portable lantern to be quite affordable at under $15. The lantern has 12 bright LED lights, plastic housing, with protection ‘cage’ and carrying handle.
